Context / challenge – Manufacturer and provider of data storage Western Digital’s (WD) Malaysian factory located in Batu Kawan, Penang, had just been presented an award for IR4.0 practices by the World Economic Forum (WEF). Being Malaysia’s only recipient and one of 90 globally, WD sought wide publicity for its achievement.

Example of PR Solutions:
An event featuring Western Digital, World Economic Forum, a government investment development agency and a state government
Due to the pandemic and rising numbers, a virtual press conference was carried out with guests including the CEO of a key government body and a prominent leader from WEF.
In our scope, we worked with a government agency, a state government and Western Digital to create an effective virtual programme to highlight this win as a topic of national interest setting the scene for the future of manufacturing in Malaysia.
For this we have curated the event content, developed the press release, crafted the speeches and media invites and ensured that it was an event well attended, ensuring heavy positive publicity/coverage.

The content encompassed areas of artificial intelligence, robotics, automation, advanced analytics and the Internet of Things. Western Digital was strategically positioned as a brand which paved the way for cognitive manufacturing to take shape in the near future.
Being trusted to carry out this effort meant that we had to work around various protocols, requirements and multiple stakeholders. It was an act of balancing the various needs whilst focusing on delivering the desired publicity.
